Bicycle Rentals on Quadra Island
The pace of a bicycle is a great way to really see Quadra Island, and Quadra Island boasts a fabulous trail system. All trails are suitable for hiking; some are suitable for intermediate trail riders, while others are perfect for novice bike riders.
A variety of bicycle frame sizes, suitable for small to tall folks, are available to rent nearby. Make your bike ride into an easy picnic with box lunches, available from the Heriot Bay Inn!
Rebecca Spit Provincial Park is a short pedal away from the Heriot Bay Inn and is a great place to while away an afternoon on the beach. Perhaps pedal to Q Cove, or explore Blenkin Memorial Park and the nice flat well-maintained trails it offers!
Self-Directed Adventure Hikes
There are many well maintained hiking trails on Quadra Island, thanks to the volunteers of the Quadra Island Trails Committee. Hikes range from moderate to challenging, and vary in length, from a couple of hours to over six. The Trails Committee produces a trails map, available at the Heriot Bay Inn gift shop and several other locations. This affordable map has details about the many hiking trails of Quadra Island. Located on the east side of Quadra Island, encounter terrain form fern carpeted forests to clam strewn beaches with the opportunity of viewing a variety of plant and wildlife species.
This is forest and lake country. Enjoy a lakeside picnic and maybe a swim in the crystal clear water, as you circumnavigate Morte Lake.
A popular hike: picnic above soaring eagles with a spectacular view of Rebecca Spit and the Discovery Passage. This is an incredible orientation to the geography of Quadra Island.
A long hike (6 hours), journeying overland to Maude Island. Here you can view spectacular tidal action and picnic above the stunning view.
