Henry Twidle the man and his art UofQ class

University of Quadra (UofQ) extracurricular class!

Take a deep dive into the life and work of local photographer Henry Twidle with UofQ Professor Amy Vandal. Amy is curator of “When Passion Makes History”, an evocative exhibition of Henry Twidle’s rare photographs, temporarily on display at the Museum of Campbell River.

British immigrant and Granite Bay resident for 40 years, Twidle documented the area, capturing striking historical images of early 20th-century life, community, and history on the North Vancouver Island coast. The Twidles moved to Granite Bay on Quadra Island in 1910. Here, the couple operated the general store and hotel which they bought from Hosea Bull in 1911. Henry became trustee of the first log school in Granite Bay in 1912 and remained in that position until he left to retire in Brown’s Bay in 1950.

Drop-in to this FREE University of Quadra class on Tuesday, September 9th at 7pm in the Heriot Bay Inn Pub.
