Want to spruce up your songwriting skills and add to your toolbox? Join award-winning singer/songwriter Terra Spencer for a weekend workshop on beautiful Quadra Island!
Held onsite at the Heriot Bay Inn, this workshop will cover topics including where and how to find inspiration, turning an idea into a song, scrapbooking your own story, song structure and arrangement, and how to document and share your songs.
The weekend will also include opportunities to collaborate with other participants and a chance to perform your songs in public!
Terra Spencer
In addition to her own four albums, Terra has written with and for artists like Matt Andersen, Charlie A’Court, and David Francey. Her workshop experience ranges from one-on-one sessions online and in person, to large community groups, working with writers of all ages and levels of experience. Her aim is to create a welcoming and encouraging environment while providing focused and constructive insight.
Terra is wonderful and covered many important aspects. It was really very useful and encouraging for me – I have been at various points a ‘blocked writer’ or someone who feels on the outside of the music community (low confidence at times). This group helped me to believe in myself, to make connections and to ‘own’ my status as a songwriter at precisely the stage I am now. Practically, I wrote more during this course – it really helped to have the accountability, challenge and validation of the group.

FRIDAY

- Small-group workshop sessions with Terra Spencer on finding inspiration, turning an idea into a song, song structure and arrangement, and documenting and sharing your songs

SUNDAY
- Plated brunch in Herons followed by participant’s performances
